Unlike some packages, Practice Manager works with all versions of Microsoft Word that run on Windows 95 and all later versions of Word and Windows, so, no need to worry about compatibility problems with Practice Manager.

Any information stored in Practice Manager can be included in correspondence. This greatly aids the production of GP letters, Appointment Letters, Medico-Legal Reports etc. Some letters, such as appointment letters, can be fully automated yet still retain that personalised "just typed" touch.

A further example of the closes integration with Microsoft Word is the "Practice Manager Toolbar" where, with a single mouse click, you can add information into a letter or report direct from Practice Manager without leaving your Microsoft Word document. Practice Manager saves and files documents for you so that you do not need to know about directory structures or continually think of names for documents that have already been used. Your own Electronic Filing system…

Practice Manager does not replace paper files. For legal reasons, these still need to be stored for a set period. What Practice Manager does do for you though is make you manual filing system a "one way" filing system. File your documents and then forget about them!

Fast retrieval of patients documents without walking to the filing cabinet...

Retrieving previously written correspondence is fast and simple, with all correspondence relating to a patient accessible from a single screen reducing reliance on your paper files. From this same screen you can also amend, view, print or email any of this correspondence. Practice Manager can also automatically create copies of all invoices, receipts, and reminder letters, recall letters, etc., and store these in the patient file.

Protecting your livelihood....

Practice Manager conforms to the proposed legislation governing legal admissibility of electronically stored documents, allowing letters to be amended whilst retaining previous versions. Additionally, letters stored in Practice Manager are less likely to attack by malicious virus software.

Additional security measures include the ability to compress and encrypt all documents produced by Practice Manager, especially important in protecting confidential documents if your computer is attached to hospital network. Letters protected this way can only be accessed via Practice Manger using Practice Managers own security features.

Practice Manager also links with your document scanner to scan any received paperwork you hold on file relating to a patient, including test results, referral letters, GP notes, hospital records etc. This gives you a complete electronic record of all correspondence relating to a patient. Archiving older information...

Once you have been using Practice Manager for a number of years and have produced thousands of documents, you may wish to Practice Managers facilities to archive off old documents. This will free up space on your computers hard drive and allow you to keep older documents stored on CD-R, zip disk, floppy disk etc. You can choose which documents to archive, so you may wish to retain medico-legal letters whilst archiving off GP or appointment letters. Archived letters still appear in the list of previous correspondence for the patient and are easily retrieved if required in the future.

Importing of letters not written in Practice Manager...

If you have documents stored on your computer or on disks which were not generated by Practice Manager (eg documents from prior to using Practice Manager, or documents typed by a secretary not using Practice Manager), these can be manually imported into the patient's record.


Importing PDF and TIFF documents...

PDF (Adobe Acrobat) documents, such as those commonly emailed by pathology labs, and TIFF documents (such as those generated by Fax-To-Email services) can all be imported into Practice Manager and recorded against a patients correspondence.
