Dictation & Transcription

Improved workflow and an optional Transcription Bureau service.....

Practice Manager allows you to dictate directly into the software via a normal microphone, headset microphone or Philips SpeechMike device, or you can import the audio files from your digital dication device.

Simply select the patient, the type of letter being dictated and then dictate notes to the transcriptionist and the body of the letter or report to be typed.

You can then select whether the typing is to be done by your own secretarial staff - or - you can chose to transmit the anonimised dictation file to a Transcription Bureau for typing (this is a chargeable service).

If using your own secretarial staff, they will immediately be able to start transcribing the letter....  Practice Manager will already know which patient the dictation relates to and the type of letter/report being dictated and generate the template of the letter (headed stationery, patient/gp addresses, sign-offs etc) and position the cursor ready to start transcribing.  Practice Manager is compatible with Philips and Olympus USB foot-pedals.

If using the Transcription Bureau then the audio file they receive is completely anonymous.  As Practice Manager already knows the patient/GPs/solicitors names, reference numbers and addresses there is no need for this information to be dictated. (reducing the time spend dictating and reducing the cost of the transcription). Practice Manager then checks periodically to detect when the transcription has been completed and builds a completed letter automatically ready for you to print, sign and post.

Even if you have your own secretarial staff who do the transcription routinely, you may find it usefuly to have the option of using the Transcription Bureau service if you have a very busy period and staff are snowed under, or when staff or off ill, on maternity leave etc..
